From 25 January, Odapark will be showing a solo exhibition by Dorine van der Ploeg, in which she presents two large installations. Over the past few months, Dorine has been out in all weathers in the woods around Odapark, where she made dozens of drawings to capture the season, atmosphere and light.
These drawings form the basis for a new light installation, which will be on display in the exhibition alongside the monumental paper maze “Into the Woods”. Both room-filling installations, each with a different interpretation of the forest, invite visitors to wander, experience and rediscover the landscape around us.
The work of Dorine van der Ploeg (Heerlen, 1983) is the result of continuous observation of her immediate surroundings. With a pair of scissors and a bag full of painted sheets of paper, she enters the landscape and draws inspiration from its light, colours, nature and depth. She has trained her eye to translate her surroundings into abstract representations, which she then expresses in her collages.
