Michiel Romme

My work can be divided into three groups: objects, collages, poetry. The common thread connecting more and part of the work are the themes of climate, environment and society (criticism). Almost always I work with residual material, often plastic.

José Springer on my work:

The once passionate and now endeared custom of uniting the present and the past by redefining the objects and their properties in a poetry of colors and shapes is something that only an artist like Michiel Romme can achieve. As a designer he has the power to give letters and words a powerful play that allows for communication, as an artist with capital Artist he turns into a builder of worlds and the inhabitant of a world of his own making.

He departs from recycling; by making things reap- pear into a different existence. If they were once utilitarian tools of the trade or a solid matter from where to begin to create, in his hands they have become a living sample of the idea that we do not create anything but reinvent the existent world, by breathing into it a spirit of the time.
