Chantal le Doux
Chantal Le Doux (born 1977, Geleen) graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Maastricht in 2001. Since then, she has lived and worked in Maastricht.
Her work has been exhibited in various solo and group exhibitions, including De Toonzaal at Bureau Europa in Maastricht (2018), the Bonnefantenmuseum Maastricht (2019), De Domeinen in Sittard (2019), Odapark in Venray (2020) and #8 Art Au Centre in Liège (2022).
Her work is part of the collections of the Academic Hospital Maastricht, Zuyderland Heerlen and the Bonnefanten Maastricht.

The given 30 × 30 cm frame is the starting point for this work. The ‘confetti’ of chintz paper are loose in the frame. Each frame contains the same combinations of shapes, which will never come together into an identical composition due to movement, gravity and chance. The visible back of the frame makes the frame itself an important part of the work: a stable factor that allows for change within its strict boundaries.
The complementary colours gradually fade with exposure to UV light. Overlaps create afterimages on the paper behind, which become visible as soon as a shape shifts. Thus, memories of earlier compositions come to light. The work will continue to evolve. Until all colour disappears and only form remains?
