During the solstice, the sun reaches its highest position in the sky. It is the longest day of the year, after which the days become shorter and the nights longer.
The lengthening and shortening of the days affects our mood and our biorhythm. Not only us humans, but all life on earth is influenced by the sun and the moon.
For me, this is one of the most important motivations for doing what I do: depicting that we are part of this greater whole. We seem to take the sun and moon, which accompany us and which we see almost every day, for granted. A few years ago, I started photographing these companions with my telescope. By taking the photos, it became clear to me that they have many forms and faces.

With the images I take with pinhole cameras, I capture the path of the sun. During the extremely long exposure times, the sun burns traces into the photographic paper. These traces of the sun become visible as a stack of white lines. The closer we get to 21 June, the higher the sun is in the sky.
